OFII medical visit and integration
Who still needs the medical visit, how the invitation works, and its link to the republican integration contract (CIR).
In the first weeks, after the OFII invitation
- OFII invitation letter and ID
- Validated visa or ANEF ID
- Relevant medical records, if any
- A passport photo for the OFII file (if requested)
1. Watch for the invitation
After validating your visa or filing your residence request, wait for the OFII invitation (email or letter); contact OFII or the prefecture if a long time passes.
2. Attend the appointment
The visit includes a chest X-ray, blood pressure and weight checks, and a medical interview, lasting roughly one to three hours.
3. Follow the republican integration contract (CIR)
Some categories must sign the CIR and attend language or civic classes; this affects eligibility for a multi-year or 10-year card later.
4. Keep your documents
Keep the attendance certificate for the visit and the CIR; you may need them when renewing your permit or applying for a longer-term card.
- The pre-first-residence-card medical visit has been dropped for many students, but other categories (such as family reunification) still require it; check your own invitation or the ANEF system.
- Medical results are not reported to the prefecture and, except in exceptional cases, don't block a residence permit.
