Student visa rejection clauses + tips for reapplying

Most rejections usually happen under

clause 4

and sometimes

clause 2

and

clause 5

(financial means and housing). Sometimes two clauses are cited together as the reasons for rejection.

Common rejection clauses (translation + explanation)

The travel document submitted is fake/forged.

(financial means) You have not provided proof that you have sufficient resources to cover costs during your stay in France, or you have not been able to prove that you obtained these resources legally.

You have not provided proof of admission to a higher education institution or vocational training body to pursue your studies.

There is sufficiently strong evidence that you will stay in France for purposes other than the one for which you applied for the student visa. (This is usually the most common rejection reason.)

The information provided to justify your accommodation arrangements is incomplete and/or unreliable.

You are subject to a measure banning you from returning to French territory.

You present a risk of threat to public order / public security / public health.

If you were rejected, how do you make a reapplication reasonable?

As has been said many times about the language-course visa and how sensible/economical it is, it's usually recommended to do the language learning in Iran. Many people ask: if we were rejected under clause 4, should we reapply for the language visa or not?

Many people are rejected for the September term and quickly reapply for January with the same file (since no new deposit is needed). But in many cases they get rejected again and it becomes even harder.

If you were rejected the first time and reapply the second time with a file of the same quality, it's almost certain you'll be rejected again. As Campus France itself emphasizes, the file needs to be strengthened and improved in quality before reapplying.

What exactly does "strengthening the file" mean?

1) Motivation letter more focused and logical, with a clear path

2) Resume relevant background/courses/internships/defensible activities

3) Language level there should be tangible progress between the first rejection and the second application

4) Academic gap a defensible explanation + real documents to fill the gap

Also, if the first rejection was for a

language visa

, it's strongly recommended that the second application be, as much as possible, for

an academic program

(rather than reapplying for the language course again). This shows that your goal isn't "simply getting into France"; you have a real academic path, and you've strengthened your language skills to reach that goal.

If you reapply with a file of the same quality as before, in 99% of cases you'll be rejected again because of the rush of the second/third application; the embassy concludes that you haven't made a meaningful effort to change your file's circumstances between the rejection and the reapplication.
