Val d’Oise

The Val-d'Oise department is located north of Paris, in the Île-de-France region, with its capital in Cergy. The department combines newer suburbs such as Cergy-Pontoise (one of France's planned new towns), Charles de Gaulle International Airport, and rural-artistic areas along the Oise river, painted by artists such as Van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise. Its economy blends air transport (Charles de Gaulle Airport), logistics and services. The cost of living in the department is more moderate than in central Paris, and international air access is one of its unique features.

Cergy, Pontoise, Argenteuil

Neighborhoods vary greatly: Cergy-Pontoise has a student and business atmosphere with varied neighborhoods; Argenteuil is a densely populated suburb with both quiet and more challenging neighborhoods. Choosing a neighborhood and proximity to the university and the RER is very important.

RER lines A and C and Transilien lines H and J connect this department to Paris. Île-de-France Mobilités buses also operate locally.
