Seine Saint Denis

The Seine-Saint-Denis department is located north of Paris, in the Île-de-France region, with its capital in Bobigny. It is one of France's youngest and most demographically diverse departments, and is home to the historic Basilica of Saint-Denis, the burial place of French kings. Its economy blends industry, logistics close to Charles de Gaulle Airport, and, in recent years, major urban projects (such as hosting part of the 2024 Paris Olympics). The cost of living in the department is lower than in other parts of greater Paris, though some areas face significant socio-economic challenges.

Saint-Denis, Montreuil, Aubervilliers

This department has both lively, appealing neighborhoods and neighborhoods facing serious social challenges (unemployment, street crime). Care should be taken in choosing a town and neighborhood for student life, ideally living close to university campuses and public transport.

Metro lines, RER B and D, trams and buses connect this department to Paris and the rest of Île-de-France.
