Seine et Marne

Seine-et-Marne department is located east of Paris, in the Ile-de-France region, and its capital is the town of Meaux. It is the largest department in the Ile-de-France region and combines Parisian suburbs (Disneyland Paris is located here), vast agricultural plains, and the famous Fontainebleau forest. Its economy combines tourism (Disneyland), agriculture and logistics. The cost of living in the department is lower than in central Paris, and it has a reasonable RER train distance to the capital.

Meaux, Melun, Serris, Champs-sur-Marne

Neighborhoods in this department vary greatly: some towns (such as Champs-sur-Marne) are family-friendly student suburbs, while some areas near the eastern suburbs of Paris can be somewhat rougher. Choosing the right town and neighborhood matters, but overall there are many good options for student life.

RER lines A, B and D and Transilien trains connect Seine-et-Marne to central Paris. The Ile-de-France bus network covers travel within and between towns.
