Pyrénées Atlantiques
Pyrénées-Atlantiques is located in southwestern France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, on the border with Spain and the Atlantic coast, with Pau as its capital. The department stretches from the famous Basque surfing beaches (Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz) to the high peaks of the Pyrenees, and Basque culture, with its distinct language and traditions, is an important part of its identity. Its economy combines coastal and mountain tourism, the aerospace industry (Turbomeca), and agriculture. A mild oceanic climate, a rich Basque culture, and natural diversity ranging from sea to mountains have made this department a popular destination in France for living and tourism.
