Nièvre
Nièvre is located in central France, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, with Nevers as its capital. It is a sparsely populated, rural department, much of it within the Regional Natural Park of Morvan, a hilly, forested upland area. Its economy combines livestock farming (the famous Charolais cattle breed), forestry, and rural tourism. Nièvre is one of France's quieter, lesser-known departments with a very low cost of living, and the forested, lake-dotted landscape of the Morvan park makes it well suited for nature lovers.

Nevers and other towns in Nièvre are generally calm and sparsely populated. To someone coming from very large cities, they may seem a bit quiet, but they are well suited for focusing on studies and work.
Nevers has a train station on the Paris–Clermont-Ferrand line. Urban bus networks and regional Bourgogne-Franche-Comté buses operate between towns.
