Meurthe-et-Moselle

Meurthe-et-Moselle is located in northeastern France, in the Grand Est region, with Nancy as its capital, a city known for its Art Nouveau architecture and 18th-century royal squares (a UNESCO World Heritage site). The department has a strong industrial history (iron mining, steel) that in recent decades has shifted toward services, higher education, and technology. Nancy is known as an important university city with a lower cost of living than Strasbourg. The department's landscape includes hills, forests, and the Moselle River valley, and its proximity to Luxembourg creates good cross-border job opportunities.

Nancy, Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy, Lunéville

Nancy is a lively student city; the neighborhoods near the station and some of the cheaper areas can be busier, but the student and residential neighborhoods are generally safe and vibrant. Smaller towns like Lunéville are quieter.

Nancy is connected to Metz, Strasbourg, Paris, and Luxembourg by TGV and TER trains. The city has a bus network and a tram/light-rail line (ex-Tram).
