Marne

Marne is located in northeastern France, in the Grand Est region, with Reims as its capital, whose historic cathedral was the coronation site of the kings of France. The department is the heart of the Champagne region and the world's leading producer of champagne, with its hillside vineyards (a UNESCO World Heritage site) stretching from Reims to Épernay. Its economy is heavily dependent on the champagne industry, agriculture, and tourism. Reims and Épernay have a reasonable cost of living and are less than an hour from Paris by high-speed train.

Reims, Châlons-en-Champagne, Épernay

Reims is a mid-sized, student-oriented city; the central neighborhoods and those near the station are somewhat busier, but overall, with the usual precautions, it is suitable for student life. Smaller towns like Châlons-en-Champagne and Épernay are quieter and more family-oriented.

Reims is connected to Paris and other major cities by TGV, and has a city tram and bus network. In other towns, urban and regional buses are the main options, and having a car is a great help for rural areas.
