Maine-et-Loire

Maine-et-Loire is located in western France, in the Pays de la Loire region, with Angers as its capital, whose historic black castle is one of the major landmarks of the Loire Valley. The department is part of the Loire Valley (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and is known for its famous vineyards (Anjou and Saumur wines) and numerous castles. Its economy combines agriculture (horticulture and floriculture, with Angers recognized as France's plant industry hub), tourism, and small-scale industry. Thanks to its high quality of life, reasonable cost of living, and mild climate, Angers has repeatedly been named one of the best cities in France to live in.

Angers, Cholet, Saumur

Angers is generally regarded as one of the higher-quality cities in France in terms of livability. It offers good safety, a relatively reasonable cost of living, and a strong student atmosphere. Cholet and Saumur also have a quieter, more relaxed urban feel.

Angers is connected to Paris, Nantes, and Rennes by TGV and TER trains. A bus and tram network (Irigo) operates within the city. Cholet and Saumur are also connected to Angers and Nantes by train and bus.
