Lot-et-Garonne
The Lot-et-Garonne department is in southwestern France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and its capital is the city of Agen, known for producing dried plums (prunes). This is an agricultural and rural department, and at the confluence of the Lot and Garonne rivers, it has fertile soil for orchards and farming. Its economy rests mainly on agriculture, the food industry and rural tourism (medieval bastide towns). The cost of living in this department is low and the climate is mild, and like many southwestern French departments, it has attracted tourists and European migrants seeking an affordable rural life.

The city of Agen and other towns are generally fairly calm. Towns become busier during event and festival seasons, but the level of crime and violence is on a par with other medium-sized French cities.
Agen has a TGV and TER station on the Bordeaux–Toulouse line. Within the city, KEOLIS buses and the urban network are active. Between smaller towns, Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional buses are used.
