Haute Vienne

The Haute-Vienne department is located in south-central France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, with its capital in Limoges, world-famous for its production of "Limoges" porcelain. The department is mountainous, forested and rural, with part of the Limousin plateau, including lakes and pastureland for livestock, lying within it. Its economy blends ceramics and porcelain industries, livestock farming and services. The cost of living in the department is low, and its quiet, green countryside, together with its famous craft heritage, gives it a distinct character.

Limoges, Saint-Junien

Limoges is a relatively quiet, medium-sized city; the neighborhoods near the center and the university are suitable and safe for students. Some outlying areas can be a bit more industrial and busier.

Limoges has several train stations connecting it to Paris, Toulouse and Bordeaux. TCL city buses and regional buses operate throughout the department.
