Haute Saône

Haute-Saône department is located in eastern France, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, and its capital is the small town of Vesoul. The department is rural and sparsely populated, with a landscape combining forests, lakes and gentle hills. Its economy relies mainly on agriculture, forestry and small industries, with no major industry established there. Haute-Saône is one of the lesser-known and quietest departments of France, with a very low cost of living.

Vesoul, Héricourt, Lure

Due to the low population and small towns, public spaces are generally calm and relatively safe. If you're used to a busy lifestyle with many cafes and nightlife, it may seem a bit quiet; but it's a good option for focusing on studies and low-cost living.

Transport relies on regional buses and TER trains connecting Vesoul to Besançon, Belfort, Dijon and other cities. The urban bus network is limited, and for frequent travel, having a car is very useful.
