Haute-Garonne

Haute-Garonne department is located in southwestern France, in the Occitanie region, and its capital is Toulouse, France's fourth-largest city and the center of Europe's aerospace industry (Airbus). The department stretches from the fertile plains of the Garonne river in the north to the Pyrenees mountains in the south, giving it great natural diversity. Its economy is one of the most dynamic in France, built on the aerospace industry, technology, and major universities. As one of the largest student cities in France with a cost of living more reasonable than Paris's, Toulouse is a popular destination for international students, including Iranians.

Toulouse, Colomiers, Muret, Blagnac

Toulouse is generally considered a fairly safe city, but as in any European metropolis, you should stay alert to pickpocketing and street harassment in the city center and around the train station (Gare Matabiau). Student and central neighborhoods like Capitole, Saint-Cyprien and Rangueil are usually lively and busy. Some northern and western suburbs can be somewhat more sensitive in terms of social insecurity, but for student life, neighborhoods close to the universities and the metro are usually the ones chosen.

Toulouse's public transport network (Tisséo) includes two metro lines, tramways, buses and the Téléo urban cable car. This network makes it easy to get around between most universities, the city center and the airport. In addition, TER and TGV trains from Matabiau station connect the city to other French cities.
