Deux Sèvres
Deux-Sèvres department is located in western France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and its capital is the town of Niort. The department is rural and agricultural, and part of the beautiful Marais Poitevin wetlands ("the Green Venice of France") is located here. Its economy combines agriculture, livestock farming, and national insurance (Niort is home to several major insurance companies). The cost of living in the department is low and calm, and its wetland-rural landscape, combined with a reasonable distance to the Atlantic coast, makes it suitable for a peaceful life.

Towns in Deux-Sèvres are mostly calm and sparsely populated. Niort has a moderate and relatively safe urban atmosphere, and other towns are much more rural and quiet.
Niort has a TER/Intercités station on the La Rochelle-Poitiers-Paris axis. Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional buses connect towns and villages. Urban transport is more limited than in larger cities.
