Corse-du-Sud
Corse-du-Sud department is located in the southern part of the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean, and its capital is the coastal city of Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. With its combination of beautiful rocky coastlines, high inland mountains, and stone mountain villages, it is one of the most distinctive and naturally rich regions of France. Its economy relies heavily on summer tourism, fishing, and local agriculture (olives, chestnuts). Corsican culture and language give the department a distinct identity, and the cost of living, especially during the tourist season, is above the average for continental France.
