Charente

The Charente department is located in southwestern France, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and its center is Angoulême, which hosts France's largest comic strip festival every year. With its extensive vineyards, the department is the world's most important region for producing cognac (the famous French spirit). Charente's economy combines agriculture, cognac production, and small industries, and it is considered a calm, rural department. The cost of living is low and the climate is mild and oceanic, though it is far from major cities and job opportunities are more limited than in larger urban areas.
